Christian Dior was a French fashion designer who founded the world famous fashion house Christian Dior.
In 1928 Christian Dior opened an art gallery in which he displayed his own sketches of fashion designs alongside works for art by artists such as Pablo Picasso. This gallery did very well for several years until unfortunately the family fortunes fell on hard times and Dior had to close the gallery, but he did not give up on his dream of creating stunning fashion designs.
After the war and several changes of working partners Christian Dior founded his own fashion house in 1946. The first Christian Dior collection was showcased in 1947 and was originally called Corolle, this was soon changed to New Look by Carmel Snow who was the editor in chief of Harper’s Bazaar magazine.
From there the name of Christian Dior was made and women flocked to by the curvy and flowing designs. Dior died in 1957, but the brand name lived on and is still very popular today.
Christian Dior Aftershaves & Perfumes
The first Christian Dior perfume to be released was Miss Dior in 1947 and this was scented with peony and mandarin. This was a very well received fragrance and was a best seller for some time.
In 1985 Dior released what was to become what many people term as the signature fragrance – Poison. This is heady, oriental fragrance still sells in huge numbers today and it is one of the most well known perfumes in the world.
Poison was followed by several other perfumes in the Poison range which include: Tendre Poison, Pure Poison and Hypnotic Poison. The most recent of the Poison fragrances is Midnight Poison.
Dior have also released many other men’s and women’s fragrances such as Dior Homme and Fahrenheit (for men), Dune, Dolce Vita, Dioresscence and several others.

Christian Dior are also very well known for their makeup and cosmetics lines as well as their fragrances and clothing. Christian Dior makeup is packaged in iconic boxes and looks amazing even when they are not being used.
