History of Givenchy

GivenchyIn 1952 fashion designer Hubert de Givenchy founded Les Parfums Givenchy which symbolised a mixture of American glamour and style with French elegance.

Audrey Hepburn was the first patron of the Givenchy brand and the perfume L’Interit was homage to her. This fragrance was a light and delicate scent that was loved by women and went on to be a best seller.

However Givenchy did not turn his back on being a designer and the clothing brand is still in existence and very popular today.

Givenchy Perfumes

In 1984 Givenchy launched their Ysatis perfume for women which was successfully followed by Amarige in 1991 and the massively popular Organza in 1996. All of these perfumes are still on the best sellers list and Ysatis is one of the all time classic perfumes.

Givenchy FragrancesBy 2003 Givenchy were commissioned to create a floral and fruity fragrance called Very Irresistible Givenchy and the ad campaign for this was headed by actress Liv Tyler. As this fragrance was so successful there were other perfumes created for the range which include Summer Vibrations and Sensual, both of which are also under the Very Irresistible name. There are also men’s ranges of these fragrances that are also very popular.

The first men’s fragrance by Givenchy was Monsieur de Givenchy which was released in 1959. This was followed in 1975 by Givenchy Gentleman, Xeryus in the 1980’s and Pi in the 1990’s. Givenchy Pour Homme and Givenchy Blue are two of the most recent additions and Very Irresistible Givenchy for Men.

Today Play is their most recent fragrance for men and the ad campaign for this was fronted by Justin Timberlake.
